By accessing or using the Ilk application and website ("Service"), provided by Kovio GmbH ("we", "us", "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Ilk, in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Ilk is a social discovery application that connects like-minded people nearby through shared interests. Users are matched by weighted interest trees and shared passions — not by photos or profile swiping. The app features anonymous-by-default identity, avatar-based profiles, interest-first matching, and proximity-based map discovery.
Ilk is currently in a closed beta (invite-only) phase. By participating in the beta programme, you acknowledge that the Service is provided "as is" and may contain bugs, errors, or inaccuracies. Features may be modified, suspended, or removed at any time without prior notice. Beta data (profiles, messages, cosmetic items) may be reset before public launch. Purchases are disabled or run in sandbox mode during beta — you will not be charged real money.
To use the app, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and maintain the security of your password. You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
Ilk is designed to be private by default. Your profile does not require a photo, and your exact location is never exposed to other users. How we collect, use, and protect your data is detailed in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to our data practices as described therein.

Ilk reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these standards without prior notice.
Ilk may include AI-generated companion users, which are clearly marked with an "AI" badge. These companions are not real people. Conversations with AI companions are processed by our AI provider to generate replies. AI companions do not provide professional advice of any kind.
When enabled, certain premium features and cosmetic items may be available for purchase through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. All purchases are processed by Apple or Google; we never see your payment details. Purchases are managed by RevenueCat. Refund policies are governed by the respective app store's terms.
While you own the content you create (messages, profile data, interests), Kovio GmbH retains all rights, title, and interest in the Ilk app, website, original content, features, design, avatar system, and functionality. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable Swiss law, Kovio GmbH shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of, or inability to access or use the Service.
You may terminate your account at any time. Upon account deletion, all your personal data will be permanently deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes via the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Switzerland. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of the Canton of Schwyz, Switzerland.
